I know many of you think that living away from home means freedom, no restrictions, and totally independence but it also means no maa dear around to create unnecessary wars that we usually take for granted. But all we used to miss a lot is maa ke hath ka khana as no food can match the taste of her hand. Every state has its own signature dish, so let’s look at different states and their signature dishes by mommies.
1. Bajre ki khichdi
Bajre Ki Khichdi is one of the signature dishes of Uttar Pradesh. No food is complete without Bajre ki khichdi. It is made sweet or salty and very easy to cook.
2. Neer dosa and chicken curry
When Neer dosa made at home, it feels like a sponge as it’s bread is soo soft. Then this is dipped in the delicious chicken curry to melt inside the mouth.
3. Sev poha
Sev Poha belongs to Madhya Pradesh and is eaten as a breakfast, lunch, dinner with hot tea.
4. Daal baati choorma
Rajasthani food is incomplete without Daal baati choorma. It consists of the baatis, crumbling round breads baked on firewood or kandas and dipped in desi ghee.
5. Shorshe pabda
Shorshe Pabda is one of the popular dishes of West Bengal, there no meal is complete without a dipped mustard fish. There are numerous ways for cooking fish, depending on the size, texture, fat contain, bones. But for this dish, the fish is served with mustard.
6. Gunta ponganalu
Gunta Ponganalu is made usually in South Indian homes using leftover idlis/dosa batter. It is served with filter coffee as an evening snack.
7. Beef fry and porotta
Beef fry and porotta belongs to Kerela, it is soo soft that it is separated by our hands. It is cooked in rich spices and wrapped with small pieces of the porotta. It usually tastes like HEAVEN.
8. Puran Poli
Puran Poli is made from the chana dal and it is filled with sweet dal stuffing and smoothly slathered with ghee
9. Madra
Madra is made from chickenpea which is cooked in yogurt gravy. It gives a rich and delicious flavor to eat with the rotis.
10. Pork vindaloo
Pork Vindaloo is the famous dish of Goa. It is cooked in vinegar and garlic. This dish is the cup of flavors and spices.
11. Methi theple and aam chunda.
One of the famous dishes of Gujarat is Methi theple and Aam chunda. This looks like a roti. This is one of the quickest dishes to settle the hunger of the gujjus.
12. Makki ki roti, sarson ka saag
Makki ki Roti and Sarso ka Saag is a Punjabi cuisine. The saag is made from the mustard leaves and spices and served hot with the Makki ki roti and topped with butter or traditionally with ghee. No ritual is complete without this dish for the Punjabis.
13. Litti chokha
Litti chokha is the famoush dish of Bihar. The happiness of biting litti dipped in chokha and mouthfuls of water to calm the burning tongue will always make people remember Bihar.
14. Kathirikai bajji
It is one of the famous dishes of Tamil Nadu which is fried brinjal made into a south-Indian version of the pakoras. It is mostly eaten with hot Chai.
All these dishes can’t be compared with the outside junk food. Only maa can fulfil the desire of these dishes. That is why maa ke haath kah khana is always being missed and can’t be compared.
