THE JAIPUR LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2017: The Festival for bookworms

The greatest literary fest once again is back this winters with a lot more vivacity. The festival starts 19th of this month. As all the previous years, this time also the festival aims at bringing together the great thinkers, humanitarians, and writers across the world. Jaipur literature festival had a modest start but now has turned into the largest free Literary fest in the world.

The festival, in past, has succeeded to attract the great speakers like Oprah Winfrey, Atal Bihari Vajpayee jee, Shashi Tharur, Vikram Seth, and many more. The festival, every year celebrates the literature with Nobel laureates, best sellers, great journalists, film directors, actors, entrepreneur and legends of every field who have a love for the literature and aim to change the society.

The 5-day festival celebrates its ten year anniversary this year. Starting from 19 of January, JLF will again leave you flabbergasted by its phenomenal charm. To celebrate its journey, JLF had announced its focus on ‘India at 70’.

The names of various prominent writers and literary personalities is out. Alice walker, Anne Waldman, Dexter Filkins, Swanand Kirire, Narendra Kohli, Ruth Padel, Vikram Chandra, Simon Winchester and Roberto Calasso will be joining the fest this year.

William Dalrymple, writer, historian and JLF co-director, said, “Each year at Jaipur we try to produce a program more remarkable than the year before, but 2017’s Jaipur list is certainly the most astonishing we have ever fielded. We have gathered talent from across the globe — from Jamaica to North Korea and Tasmania to Zimbabwe — to present writers of genius as diverse as the war correspondent Dexter Filkins, the economist Ha-Joon Chang and the Italian aesthete, Sanskritist and polymath Roberto Calasso.”
These words by William Dalrymple had nowhere failed to instigate more enthusiasm and excitement in us.
